about
The simplicity of a long slow drive on a sunny day. The feeling of the sun kissing your cheeks and the wind blowing your hair. Detroit native Flint Eastwood and Seattle beat mason Chong the Nomad aim to capture this sentiment on their new release “Nothing Else (You)”. Rooted in the feeling of meeting someone and immediately being drawn to them but not fully understanding why, Nothing Else (You) is a shimmering alt-pop ballad destined for backyard barbeques and road trip singalongs. Chong’s quirky upbeat production paints a beautiful background for Flint’s unmistakable sense of space and vocal clarity. Clocking in at just a touch over three minutes, Nothing Else (You) is long enough to feel your heart with nostalgia and short enough to leave you with an urge to relive that feeling and this again, again, and again.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
